Desert trail beneath a wide, cloud-filled sky

What to Expect

What to expect

Every Walk Has a Rhythm

A trail gathering creates space for Scripture, prayer, walking, stillness, reflection, and community.

The journey

How we walk together

A Hike With God is more than a hike, but it is not a church service, class, or performance. It is a guided outdoor experience where movement, nature, reflection, and honest conversation create room for connection.

  1. Welcome: We meet one another and establish expectations that help everyone feel respected.
  2. Walk: We move together at the stated pace. Conversation and silence are both welcome.
  3. Selah: We pause to breathe, notice, listen, and reflect.
  4. Share: You may share what surfaced, but you are never required to speak.
  5. Close: We honor the experience and carry it forward beyond the trail.

Selah

Pause. Breathe. Listen.

At selected points, the group may pause to notice the surroundings, consider a question, hear a short passage, pray, or reflect quietly.

Selah is not something to complete. It is permission to pause. There is no single right response—only an invitation to notice God’s presence.

Our spiritual posture

Faith with welcome, honesty, and respect.

A Hike With God is Christ-centered in spirit and welcoming in practice. People arrive with different histories, questions, beliefs, and levels of comfort. We do not use the trail to pressure, debate, or force agreement.

Nobody is pressured to share. Participation is voluntary. Listening is valuable. Silence is welcomed.

“God is love. When love is present, so is God.”

— Nathaniel A’mon

What this is not

Clear expectations protect the experience.

  • It is not a race or fitness competition.
  • It is not therapy or a substitute for professional care.
  • It is not a sermon or formal Bible study.
  • It is not a place where anyone must disclose personal experiences.
  • It is not something you have to complete perfectly.

What you may carry forward

Every person’s experience will be different.

You may leave with a clearer thought, a meaningful conversation, a new connection, a question worth carrying, or simply the peace of having spent time outdoors.

“It’s random for us but intentional for God.”

— Nathaniel A’mon
