The Leadership Covenant

How We Agree to Hold the Journey.

Leadership within A Hike With God is an act of stewardship. We are entrusted with people, place, purpose, and the center of the experience—not status, ownership, or permission to control another person’s path.

The posture of leadership

We lead by following, serving, and remaining accountable.

Journey Guides, Trail Stewards, Journey Partners, facilitators, and volunteers may hold different responsibilities, but leadership is never measured by visibility. The goal is faithful service.

We protect the Christ-centered foundation of the experience through love, truth, humility, prayer, spiritually led Scripture, and example. We do not require participants—or every person who serves—to claim the same religious identity. We uphold the center without policing belief.

Greater trust requires greater responsibility.

We Lead Through Service

We place participant well-being, the integrity of the gathering, and the care of the land ahead of recognition, convenience, or personal influence.

We Live What We Share

We strive to model honesty, humility, consistency, compassion, restraint, and grace. We do not ask of others what we refuse to practice ourselves.

We Welcome Without Compulsion

We receive people across faiths, traditions, identities, and life experiences. We invite participation without manipulating emotion, belief, prayer, or disclosure.

We Protect the Experience

We hold space for walking, conversation, Scripture, prayer, reflection, release, and Selah while allowing each person to engage freely and respectfully.

We Trust God to Reveal

We do not manufacture encounters, claim authority over another person’s revelation, or present our personal impressions as commands from God. We make room and release the outcome to the Creator.

We Practice Safety

We prepare the route, communicate known risks, follow appropriate procedures, maintain headcounts and group pacing, respond within our training, and seek qualified help when a situation exceeds our role.

We Maintain Boundaries

We do not exploit trust, pursue inappropriate relationships, use private information for influence, or blur the difference between community support and professional care.

We Protect Privacy Responsibly

We safeguard what is shared while recognizing the limits of confidentiality when danger, abuse, legal duties, or the need for appropriate assistance is present.

We Remain Accountable

We welcome appropriate questions and correction, document significant incidents, disclose conflicts of interest, avoid retaliation, and participate honestly in review or repair.

We Continue Growing

Leaders remain learners. We pursue spiritual, personal, practical, safety, and leadership development and accept that readiness must be demonstrated before responsibility expands.

We Care for Creation

We model Leave No Trace, respect land regulations, prepare participants for conditions, and treat creation as something entrusted to our care.

We Protect the Culture

We preserve love, freedom, reflection, service, dignity, and Christ-centered leadership without turning the community into a church, a personality-centered platform, or a place of fear.

Responsibility and repair

Leadership is accountable to the people it serves.

When we make a mistake, we do not hide behind title, intention, spirituality, or service. We listen, tell the truth, take responsibility, make appropriate repair, and accept changes to our role when trust or safety requires it.

A leader may be paused or removed from responsibility when conduct, preparation, boundaries, or judgment no longer supports the well-being of the community. Restoration, when appropriate, requires accountability and demonstrated change—not urgency to regain a title.

May love remain greater than title.

Most High, help us lead with wisdom, serve with humility, listen with compassion, walk with integrity, protect those entrusted to our care, and remain open to correction. May the Christ light be visible through our love, and may we remember that the journey belongs to the Creator. A’mon.
