The Community Covenant
How We Agree to Walk Together.
This covenant is not a statement of shared religion. It is our agreement to let love shape how we enter the space, honor difference, protect one another, care for creation, and move as a community.
The agreement of love
Belonging does not require sameness.
People may arrive from different faiths, cultures, identities, families, and seasons of life. We do not ask anyone to abandon that journey at the trailhead. We ask each person to enter with love, honesty, respect, and a willingness to let others remain fully human.
The group is Christ-centered in its leadership and open to all in the agreement of love. Scripture, prayer, and spiritual reflection may be present, but they are never used to pressure, test, rank, or exclude.
“When you remove judgment, all there is left is love.”
— Nathaniel A’mon
Our commitments
Love becomes visible in how we walk.
We Welcome
We receive each person with dignity and kindness. No one is expected to arrive with life, faith, or the trail already figured out.
We Listen
We listen with curiosity rather than assumption. We do not interrupt another person’s story to fix, debate, diagnose, or redirect it toward ourselves.
We Respect Difference
We allow different beliefs and experiences to remain different. Respect does not require agreement; it requires dignity, restraint, and honest care.
We Encourage
Our words should strengthen rather than diminish. We honor progress without demanding perfection and offer support without taking responsibility away from the individual.
We Protect Trust
We treat personal stories with care. Privacy is honored except when someone may be in danger, disclosure is legally required, or permission has been given to seek appropriate help.
We Practice Selah
We honor silence and resist filling every moment with speech. Each person may reflect, pray, notice, or simply be still without explaining the experience.
We Care for Creation
We stay on established paths, carry out what we bring, respect wildlife and other trail users, and leave the land no worse—and whenever possible better—than we found it.
We Walk Together
We follow the stated route, safety guidance, and group pace. We notice who is falling behind, communicate concerns, and never use speed, strength, or experience to shame another person.
Healthy boundaries
Care does not require overreach.
A Hike With God creates space for connection and reflection; it is not therapy, medical care, crisis response, or spiritual control. Participants and leaders do not present personal opinions as diagnoses, divine commands, or professional guidance.
No one is required to share personal information, receive prayer, accept advice, exchange contact information, or continue a conversation beyond their comfort. We honor consent, personal space, and appropriate boundaries.
Repair and accountability
When harm occurs, love calls us to respond.
We receive concerns without retaliation. We seek truth, take responsibility, make reasonable repair, and accept that safety may require boundaries or removal from an activity. Forgiveness does not erase accountability, and belonging does not excuse repeated harm.
Immediate safety concerns should be brought to a Journey Guide or Trail Steward. Emergencies should be directed to the appropriate emergency or professional services.
Our community promise
May every person leave with their dignity intact.
We will strive to create a community where people feel seen, respected, encouraged, and free to encounter the journey without coercion. We make room; God determines what is revealed.
