About Historic Railroad Trail

Walk in the footsteps of history along this wide, relatively flat trail that once served the construction of the Hoover Dam. As you traverse this path, marvel at the engineering feat of the railroad and the vastness of the landscape leading to the impressive Lake Mead. Useful Information & Tips:

• Difficulty: Easy, mostly flat and wide, suitable for all fitness levels.
• Distance: Approximately 7.5 miles roundtrip, but you can hike any portion.
• Time: Allow 3-4 hours for the full out-and-back, or less for shorter sections.
• Bring: Plenty of water, sun protection (exposed trail), comfortable walking shoes, snacks.

Tip: The tunnels along the way offer shade and a unique perspective. Be mindful of the temperature as there is little shade.

Don’ts:

• Don’t venture off the trail, especially near the steep drop-offs towards the lake.
• Don’t climb on or deface any historical structures.
• Don’t underestimate the length and sun exposure if hiking the entire trail.
